Emergency planning

Safety plan in case of fire

Download the file in PDF format PDF

All SMEs should prepare an emergency plan in case of fire.

This plan should include procedures to be followed, including:

  • Trigger the fire alarm;
  • Warn firefighters;
  • Educate occupants on how to proceed when the fire alarm is triggered;
  • Evacuate the occupants at risk and take special measures to evacuate people with disabilities;
  • Contain, control or extinguish the fire (if any);
  • Note the time necessary to evacuate all occupants.

The plan should also include:

  • The appointment and training of at least one person specifically responsible for relief in case of fire;
  • The preparation and posting drawings showing the location of emergency exits, stairways, elevating devices, key passages and any other means of exit, the location of any protective equipment against fire, the location of the main switches for the lighting system, elevating devices, facilities, central heating, ventilating and air conditioning and other electrical equipment;
  • Constant surveillance of potential risks of fire in the building;
  • Verification and maintenance of equipment to fight fires (alarms, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc.).

In buildings occupied by 100 people or more, there should be a battery-operated loudspeaker to help lead the crowd during an evacuation. The designated rescuers should also wear helmets and bibs so that we can quickly identify them. They should also have access to powerful flashlights.

Remember that your plan will, among others:

  • Ensure the safety of human life;
  • Facilitate the evacuation of occupants;
  • Educate occupants of the building resources available in the event of a disaster;
  • Facilitate the transmission of information needed in an emergency;
  • Limit and manage all risks of fire in a safe manner;
  • Prevent or minimize damage.

After the fire...

With the agreement of your insurer, a company like ours can immediately take action to minimize the time required for a return to normal business after a fire not involving a total reconstruction.

On the spot, we can proceed to the general household cleaning including floors, walls and, of course, ceilings.

We use special products specifically designed to eliminate all traces of soot and persistent odors.

The installation of an air purifier with high performance filtration using HEPA filters can remove dissolved solids in the air.

Our specialists can also bring furniture, equipment and possessions to our workshop that require cleaning. In this chapter, our ozonation room may be used. With the latter, even sophisticated electronic equipment from which bad smells emerge can be handled without risk to their integrity.

We are also specialists in drying structures. In many cases, we can proceed avoiding or minimizing the demolition of areas affected by water, generally discharged to combat the fire.

THE RESTORATION OF YOUR DOCUMENTS

Many people believe that the documents affected by smoke or water are beyond repair. Huge mistake!

Indeed, we carry out the restoration of documents damaged by liquid, smoke, gas or mold with our cryogenic process, our ozonation room and our highly secure ULC approved laboratory. Only skilled hands handle your most valuable documents.

By the way, our personnel for this service hold an official safety certificate. It is therefore with confidence that you can entrust your documents and computer disks (CDs, DVDs, etc.).

In short, our service is quick, confidential and effective.
